About me:

My name is Carolina Gonzalez I'm a freshmen at The University of Texas at El Paso. The connection that I have with this topic is because a relative was being affected by this addiction and since then I got really interested in how social network addiction is the as serious has alcohol or drugs addiction. I select this topic this semester because i believe is a subject that now in days is affects most of teenagers because of their social lives. It relates to my other classes that I'm taking by noticing that some of my classmates are being affected by this issue. I think it would relate to my other classes by encourage other to be careful when using social network websites and also to get inform about.

Social Network Addiction
            Almost all  the people around the world have access to the internet, most of these people  visit Social Network websites and become addicts by developing the habit of staying connected to the Social Network website or thinking about it constantly. Social Network Addiction intended audience is everyone who has access to the internet and creates and account to any of the social network sites mostly of the audience are teens. The audience of Social Network is at risk to develop an addiction by using different social network sites, either to communicate with friends, met new people, for curiosity and even to find someone to have a relationship. The audience is at risk because social network addiction can develop rapidly by simply becoming part of your day to check your social network account, also by being constantly thinking about it and also when you start to lose track of the tie while you are at the social network site. The purpose of Social Network is to meet new people, communicate with your friends and share moments of your life. Some people developed and addiction to this websites by having the habit to visited everyday for some people social network becomes a hobby but they don’t realize that it can become a Social Network Addiction.  There are two genres that represent and  explain Social Network Addiction. The first genre is Facebook which is a social network website used to communicate with your friends, reconnect with old friends, find a love one , shared photos and any other social event.  Most of the people stayed connected to Facebook because they want to keep in contact with their friends. Teenager and adults are the ones that used frequently this website. The second genre is an article “Signs of Addiction to Online Social Networking” by Jenney Cheever is an article that informs the Social Network Addicts to identify their addiction by reading about the signs of Social Networking. At the end of the article it informs the reader about different tips of how to stop their internet addiction.

The Ethos of Social Network Addiction are the different sites of social networking such as facebook, and many others. For the first genre the creator of facebook is an American computer scientist, software developer and philantropolist named Mark Elliot Zukerberg. In his site www.facebook.com  he creates it for people all around the world with internet access, because it can be used in many different languages. As soon as you access the website it asked you to register and for that you would need an email account, and once you create your account you can start updating your profile, add friends and also be added by other people.  The Ethos in the other genre of Social Network Addiction is an article by Jenney Cheever. In her article we can know how to identify the signs of social network addiction and you can help social network addicts to control their addiction.  The vocabulary in facebook are normal everyday conversations, sometimes it depends how people in the network communicate with each other, for the other genre the article their vocabulary is informative and formal. The logos in the first genre facebook, it has many different font sizes and colors.  Also it has a shape in form of a telephone so that you know you can access to your facebook account in your cell phone. The logos in the second genre it has also different font sizes but only in black color. The title of the article is bold, and the article has a picture of girl using a picture, this picture goes with the theme of the article.  The pathos of the first genre Facebook shows a figurative language of getting people interested in the social network website by having a picture of the world with different showing arrows the people that they can communicate with their friends and meet new people around the world and telling them in blue bold letters that creating an account to became part of facebook is completely for free. The second genre the article the pathos is how the pictures that is shown there shows how teenagers are more likely to develop Social Network Addiction, and also the information in the article can create a anxiety feeling because while your reading the signs of the addiction you may discover that one of your family members has the addiction or any friend. It also has a feeling of relieve because it also informs you about different ways you can help the person that suffers from Social Network Addiction. Genre number one Facebook is structure very organize, fist it has for the people that already create an account to log in the upper right corner, On the rest of the page it has instructions for people to inform them how to create an account and be part of face, and finally it has a short sentence to inform people that they can communicate with people all around the world and to update their facebook log in page in the language that they desire.  Also the instructions of how to create an account in facebook are very organize first you start with your name, last name, an email account, then you are asked to create a password, and finally it asked your date of birth. Once you are accepted then you start to update your profile as you desire. The second genre the article is organize by first stating their purpose of the article the signs of Social Network Addiction next by giving a brief introduction to the topic next it brings you right to the informative point of how to identifies the signs of Social Network Addiction, at the end of the article it gives you different subtitles of good tips of how to get away from Social Network Addiction, and finally it gives you an advice if the person with the addiction cannot be control by their tips she author encourage you to take it to an specialist, or to visit different websites that help the addicts of Social Network websites. The author language in the first genre Facebook homepage is formal and informative by telling you the instructions of to start using facebook by creating an account, the discourse community in this genre is everyone that has access to the internet and has an email account, and by this communicating with normal everyday conversations. The author’s language in facebook helps them by being informative because it helps the people how to start using facebook and become part of it. For the second genre the article the language is formal and informative also because it informs the reader about the different signs of how to identify Social Network Addiction and how to get out of it or at least to learn how to control it. The author uses third person in his writing and this takes effect by making the other person communicated and into the reading by being inform about Social Network Addiction. The writer’s language helps her by being informative because people that are interested in the purpose of the article will feel identify and important because of the formal writing about the issue.
            The first Genre Facebook succeed the most because as soon as you access to the homepage your are being invited  to become part of the Social Network website and also it shows in bold letters that is completely free to create an account. Also because it has a picture of the world informing the audience that you can used facebook all around the world and communicate in the language that you desire. The second genre the article somewhat succeed it by informing the audience first by giving them a brief information about the topic Social Network Addiction so that the audience will feel identify and keep reading the article and also by having in bold letters the subtitles of the purpose of the article. The second genre fail by not having enough pictures of about the topic because in some cases the audience focuses on just the design of the genre and if it does it seem well design some of the audience will not feel the necessity to read loosing the importance of the genre.
